2.4 Quantum Sails

Quantum’s 2.4 sails continue to be a constantly refining process. We’ve tried to keep the product line simple but with a barrage of custom requests (which we are happy to accommodate) we keep finding ourselves with popular new products. Hopefully this will help make sense of it all:

Mainsails: We offer two general purpose Mainsails. One in a more forgiving Dacron, the other in a longer lasting Technora. We also offer a third mainsail. The “Olympic Cut” Mainsail uses a very lightweight, very stiff racing Dacron, as well as a slightly different panel layout letting us sqeeze out a little extra sail area. This makes it an excellent (if short-lived) high end race sail OR an excellent light air option. The Tri-Radial Technora Mainsail, is a lightweight very strong sail ideal for heavy-air (or long term use).

Headsails: We offer one All-Purpose headsail, made with a lightweight Technora, suitable for light-air conditions which holds it’s shape well in heavy-air. You compromise a small amount of area over the light-air profiles, and some long-term durability in heavier air. It has an all-purpose shape. We have two max-area light-air headsail options. One a very lightweight polyester, the other a more durable but heavier Technora. Our heavy genoa, a Tri-radial cut from Technora, is designed for heavy air use, is lightweight, and extremely durable. All sails include; numbers, logo, draft stripes, trim indicator, vision or spreader window, adjustable luff rope, mainsail clew attachment and tube bag – as specified by the customer.
